Ohana
Restaurant & Kids Paradise
Right next door — Ohana is an open-sided Balinese restaurant set in a big shaded garden with a properly supervised playground beside it: climbing frame, trampoline, sandpit, race track and a separate toddler area, with nannies watching while you eat. The food is genuinely good (strong breakfasts, wood-fired pizza, the usual Indonesian staples) and there's an indoor movie room of beanbags and Lego for the evening. This is the 4pm solution. When the day comes apart — and with small children it sometimes does — you walk out the gate and it's fixed.

Tarabelle
Restaurant & Kids Club
Eight to twelve minutes away, and our first-day place. Tarabelle is an all-day breakfast café doing Australian-Asian food properly — big brunch plates, real coffee, pancakes the kids will talk about — with a kids club attached rather than bolted on. Children from six months up get a bright indoor playroom and an open-air playground, plus a daily programme of baby sensory sessions, little-chef workshops and nature art. Easy after a long flight: they run around, you sit down, nobody has to be anywhere.

Pak Doel 2
Mie Ayam Bakso
Five minutes up the road in Ungasan, and the meal we come back for. It's a plain warung full of locals — no menu on the wall, not much English, plastic stools. Point at what the next table has. The chicken noodles come firm and springy in a clear savoury broth with greens and a chilli sauce worth the trip alone; add bakso urat, the beef meatballs with tendon through them, if the children are up for it. Dinner for the family costs less than two coffees in Bingin. Open 9.30am to 10pm. Ask us for the pin — it's not the kind of place you find by looking.
